UNDERSTANDING JESUS

You may have been assured, by people that with the Bible in your hand and through the guidance of the Holy Spirit you will be able to understand Jesus. How has that been working out for you?

“And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest? And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.” Acts 8:30, 31, KJV.

And Peter warned us all:

“As also in all his [Paul’s] epistles, ... in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.” 2 Peter 3:16, KJV.

John said:

“And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen.” John 21:25, KJV.

SALVATION

The Lord taught that salvation means to enter Eternal Life:  which is to live in the kingdom of God, with the virtues of Jesus, where you will be eternally happy, having forgotten the evil of your past: having no worries of the future, and at peace with yourself, your enemies, and with God. Eternal life is found through our love for God and for His Son.

You must learn not to depend on things of this world and on others for your happiness, for such reliance on man and possessions prevent happiness. Learn to trust God for your very life. This is freedom. This is what He means when He says the truth will set you free. Choose The Lord as your “neighbor” and not anyone instead of Him,  for there is only one neighbor and it is only He who can save you from spiritual separation from God your Father.

What does it mean to love The Lord as you love yourself?

It means that there is no separation between your spirit and the Spirit of The Christ. That you cannot conceive of yourself without Him. That when you look into the mirror, you no longer see the “face” that you show to others, but instead see the “spirit” which God sees which is the Spirit of His Son within you. That is what Paul means when he says

“The Christ is in you, and you are in The Christ.”

And you must do the work of The Christ, which is also the work of The Father. As Paul said:

“It is no longer I that do the work, but The Christ within me.”

Our Lord said to his disciples,

“keep my words”.

When He sent them into the world he told them to teach all to observe what He had taught them. This is what we must do.

Come let us take you beyond the “milk” of the gospel to the “real food” that Jesus offered to his disciples .
